Thanks to a partnership between Southwest Badger and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, an 8-foot no-till planter is available to rent for farmers and landowners in Southwest Wisconsin. Click here to see a side view of the planter. Click here for a rear view.
Eligible landowners and operators must have a grazing plan, forest stewardship plan, Partners for Fish and Wildlife Agreement, or Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contract in place to rent the no-till planter. Click here to read a press release about the program.

Southwest Badger RC&D Council, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the Southwest Wisconsin community, landowners, and farmers with technical assistance and education in the areas of grazing, forestry, and invasive species. Our vision is to be an incubator for innovative, economic, and sustainable use of natural resources in Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa, La Crosse, Lafayette, Richland, Sauk, and Vernon counties.
We do good work and we train tomorrow’s conservation leaders. Please consider giving to Southwest Badger RC&D and “like” us on Facebook.
Your membership gift of $50 or more will entitle you to free entrance to all of Southwest Badger’s workshops and events for one year after the donation is made.
Your tax-deductible gift, welcome at any time of year, supports our ongoing programs:
- We inspire landowners to steward their land. Since 2016 our Grazing Specialist matched over 100 beginning farmers with mentors. Sixty five other farmers were trained to grow healthy grass-based livestock systems. Your gift of $250 supports a beginning farmer with a prescribed grazing plan.
- Woodland owners learn first-hand from our Forester how to manage invasive species, improve wildlife habitat, and support oak regeneration and future revenue. Your gift of $150 will pay for one-on-one woodland assistance.
- Our Invasive Species Specialists ensure this region maintains its water resources, attracting anglers and paddlers who spend locally. Your gift of $100 will help control invasives on private and public lands.

Tree and shrub shelters are among the most highly effective tools for protection against deer browse and other factors. Other benefits include:
